Nur-Sultan, May 18, 2022 – The issue of further cooperation in the field of human rights protection were discussed by the Commissioner for Human Rights Elvira Azimova and the Banking ombudsman Yerserik Siyrbaev.
Then mandate of the Banking ombudsman is regulated by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On banks and banking activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan’.
The ombudsmen had discussed practical issues of protecting human rights in the course of resolving financial disputes with the participation of the banking ombudsman and ways to strengthen his role at the pre-trial stage of dispute resolution.
As a result of the meeting, the ombudsman agreed on cooperation and mutual consultations, when considering citizens’ appeals on the protection of human rights.
At the meeting, an observance of the law, when considering complaints and appeals of citizens, was paid too much attention, the need to further improve legislation in the field of protecting the rights of citizens in the field of public services, including with the participation of other entities involved in the pre-trial settlement of banking disputes.
Elvira Azimova had spoken about the creation of an association of ombudsmen and national human rights institutions by the ombudsmen of the Turkic states. This association aims to unite the efforts of not only ombudsmen’s human rights, but also other national human rights institutions.
