The Banking ombudsman of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Nurpeissov, took part in the international arbitration forum ‘China-Central Asia 2023’ in the city of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, at the invitation of the Chinese side on 1^st November, 2023.

The Forum is a landmark event bringing together international legal experts, academics and practitioners to discuss the latest developments in the field of arbitration, consumer protection and cooperation between China and Central Asia countries.

At the Forum, Darkhan Nurpeissov presented the Institute of the Banking Ombudsman of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He spoke about the role, powers and tasks facing the Banking Ombudsman, the legal basis of its activities and plans for the further development of the institution of the Banking ombudsman in Kazakhstan.

The topic of the report was interesting for the audience, since Kazakhstan is the only country in Central Asia, where the institution of the Banking ombudsman successfully functions, as an independent pre-trial instrument for the pre-trial settlement of disagreements between creditors and borrowers.
