Timur Suleimenov, a chairman of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held a meeting with the Banking ombudsman Darkhan Nurpeissov.

The Banking ombudsman is presented an information about its activities and highlighted the problem to the head of the National Bank, that arises, when resolving disagreements on bank loans at the meeting.

The institution of the Banking ombudsman was introduced in February 2011 year by amending the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 10^th February 2011 No.406-IV ‘On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on mortgage lending and protection of the rights of consumers of financial services and investors’. Since its creation have passed more than 12 years, and during this time not only the economic situation has changed in the country, but also the level of population service has significantly expanded by second-tier banks.

The decisions of the Banking ombudsman are binding on banks only for disagreements arising from mortgage loans, while they are often being the result of violations of contractual obligations for other types of banking services. Therefore, the Banking ombudsman raised the topic of the need to expand the competence of the Banking ombudsman and improve legislation.
