A seminar was held on the topic ‘The role of the Banking Ombudsman of the Republic of Kazakhstan in protecting the rights of consumers of Financial services’ on 16^th November 2023 year, within the walls of the Caspian University, as a part of a week, improving financial literacy.

The report was made by Ruslan Ibragimov, an advisor of Banking ombudsman, who told students of the Faculty of Economics and teachers about the institution of the banking ombudsman, its formation and development over 12 years.

Listeners learned about the role and powers of the banking ombudsman, ways to contact him and issues within his competence and the power of the decision of the Banking ombudsman.

Cases on mortgage loans were reviewed, real disagreements and ways to resolve them were discussed. Particular attention was paid to other types of loans, that are especially popular among students, these are consumer loans without collateral and loans issued by MFOs.

Listeners received information about the risks, legal consequences of failure to fulfill contractual obligations and ways to resolve disagreements, that may arise in the process of servicing loans.
